Alana Pierce is pursuing a PhD in Management, Strategy & Entrepreneurship at HEC Montréal. Her scholarship is based on her experience helping organizations grow and develop from inside-out and outside-in, specifically investigating how advice interactions shape the trajectories of new organizations with particular attention to the ways in which gender plays a role. Alana is a passionate advocate for equity, social justice and civic engagement and has largely pursued this through volunteering and nonprofit employment and consulting in organizations such as The League of Women Voters, Green Opportunities, The Literacy Council, The Mediation Center, and the North Carolina Association for Healthcare Access. Her experience includes finance and accounting, H&R and management, event planning, grant management and reporting, small business communications, and organizational strategizing. Although currently residing in Montréal, Alana and her partner consider Asheville, North Carolina their home and look forward to returning to hiking, camping, and cold swims in the North Carolina mountains.
