Candice Strongwater, Special Projects Manager
Candice Strongwater is a curator and cultural producer from the Garden State. Working across histories of media, architecture, and educational technology, her research focuses on the classroom as a site for governing the student body, as well as creative practices that counteract the rationalization of US based schooling. While pursuing graduate work at The Center for Curatorial Studies, Bard College, she organized the exhibition Classroom Arsenal (2021), which reflected on the tangled histories between educational and corporate systems. At Bard, she also co-taught a cross-listed course in the Photography and Human Rights Program concerned with imaging technologies, photography, and ethics. She has organized public programs and exhibitions at Abrons Arts Center, Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning, No Longer Empty, Exit Art, and Red Bull Arts, where she was the Associate Curator and Head of Public Programs, co-organizing projects including Gretchen Bender: So Much Deathless (2019) Rammellzee: Racing for Thunder (2018), TOTAL PROOF: The GALA Committee 1995-1997 (2016) with artist Mel Chin, among others.
