Tabitha Williams, Board Member

Tabitha Williams is an activist, community organizer, and founding member for the grassroot coalition Parents for Healthy Homes, where she lends 24 years of expertise in environmental health advocacy work. Part of the Fundred network, Tabitha and other members of the Parents for Healthy Homes took part in the Fundred Artists of America program in Washington DC in 2019 for policy maker engagement. In 2018, she was recognized with the Woman of Hope Award from WMEAC’s Women and the Environment Symposium. Her leadership as an advocate to end child lead poisoning in Grand Rapids was the driving force behind receiving the award, and she has engaged over 300 families in her efforts to educate, involve, and advocate for change.

Currently, Tabitha is a Mental Health Ambassador at Calvin College, where she helps to raise awareness of mental health stigmas and their motivating issues. She is also Founder of Community Civics Institute, which creates a safe space for communities of color to give and receive information that will empower them to be engaged and make change around issues that impact their lives. From Tabitha: “I value lived experiences and the impactful stories behind them,“WE ARE THE EXPERTS!” In addition to her community love, Tabitha enjoys spending time with her family, which includes her husband, nine children, and six grandchildren.
